| Q. |
What is the
Community College Recruitment
Program-Information Technology? |
| A. |
The Community College Recruitment Program-Information
Technology (CCRP) is a program designed to enable state agencies to easily hire
persons completing a two-year computer technology program at a Community College
or Technical College. |
| Q. |
Am I eligible for the Community College
Recruitment Program?
|
| A. |
If
you have earned an Associates degree, or are within six months of
receiving a degree and are enrolled full-time in a degree program, you are
eligible to apply. However, you must obtain your degree before you can be
hired into a permanent position with the state.
|
|
Note:
While the majority of recruitment outreach efforts target recent and
soon-to-be graduates, everyone who meets the eligibility requirements is
invited to apply, including current state employees.
|
| Q. |
When are applications
accepted?
|
| A. |
You
can apply at anytime. However, the most common method is for a state
agency to identify a specific need and to actively recruit applicants to
support those needs. |
| Q. |
How do I apply?
|
| A. |
You can log into the Internet
Application system and complete an applicant profile and the exam.
OR:
You can complete an
application form and the
test questionnaire (available in Word
format or as a PDF)
and send them to:
Department of Personnel
Box 47500
Olympia, WA 98504-7500
Note: The
CCRP test
can also can be
administered in the form of an oral interview by a participating agency. Interview
responses are then scored by the agency and mailed to the Department of Personnel.
|
| Q. |
How long does the application process take? |
| A. |
It depends:
-
If you are actively recruited by a hiring
agency, you'll typically get your results
at the end of the
interview, as soon as you complete your application online, or within a few days
if you apply via the paper process.
-
If you apply
online, but have not
been actively recruited by an agency, you'll
still get your test results instantly and your name will be
added to the hiring list/register within a couple of hours. However, it is
in your best interest to then market yourself to the agencies
you are interested in working for.
-
If you send in a paper application, you will get your test results and be added to the register in
about two to three weeks. Again, you will then want to initiate contact with
agencies for which you would like to work.
|
| Q. |
How do I get an interview? |
| A. |
While
agencies may contact you directly as job opportunities arise, it is in
your best interest to be proactive. Contact the
agencies for which you would like to work. Request an informational
interview to familiarize yourself with the agency and its hiring needs.
Remember that not all applicants are interviewed, so it is important that
you take the initiative and set yourself apart from the crowd by marketing
your talents. |
| Q. |
Are employee benefits the same under the
CCRP? |
| A. |
Yes. When you are hired through the Community College Recruitment Program, you will
receive the same benefits as in other state
positions. You will also serve
a six-month probation period.
After successful completion, you will gain status as a permanent state employee. |
