About On-Line Summaries

Disclaimer

This collection of appeal summaries is not a complete statement of all issues involved in an appeal. The summary does not necessarily represent the final disposition in the appeal since it is subject to reconsideration, modification orders, editorial corrections and withdrawal. However, this is intended as a tool for those working with similar issues at state agencies, institutions of higher education and related boards in Washington State.

Requests for Arbitration

The arbitration summaries provide the names, the background situation and issues leading to the arbitration, and the Board's decisions.

Recruitment Appeals

An applicant for state employment may appeal several aspects of the recruitment process. These include, but are not limited to: rejection of application; the conduct of the examination process; removal of a name from the eligible list or register and the person's examination results.

Unfair Labor Practice Charges

An employee, union or management may file an unfair labor practice charge if they believe the collective bargaining rights have been violated. ULP summaries provide the case name and number, the background situation and issues leading to the filing of the charges along with the Board's determination.
